Proofing is Important

It's late. I had a full day with writing. I made a to-do list and got about half of the things done. One ended up being a 1,200 word article for Medium. Another just now was a shorter piece for my other website, Talking to Spirit.com. It's scheduled to be published two days before this one goes out, but the funny thing is that I ended up posting it on this website.

Now, Talking to Spirit has to do more with life as a psychic and tips and tricks for folks who would like to invite psychic stuff into their lives, too. Someday I'll be sure to write some books. Actually, I already have, I just have never gotten around to publishing them. In any case, I've always figured that I learned as an adult that you can too. It took me a good five years of intensive study, where I was like a dog with a bone. I just wouldn't let loose.

In any case, I don't know if it was because I was tired or what, but I ended up putting that article here on my author's website.

If you'd like to read it, I'll put a reminder to myself to come in here and post a link. I asked my Spirit Guide, Seth, if there was sex in Heaven.

Actually, there is a two-fold reason why I asked him and published a piece about sex. It was because I'd noticed that my readership had slumped on Medium and Substack. I publish three times a week at Substack and twice a week at Medium. Sometimes more than that. Never less. Additionally, I publish twice a week at Talking to Spirit and twice a week here at my author's website. It's a lot of writing. 

So, there was this slump in my readership. I believe it is due to the holidays just around the corner, Thanksgiving, the holidays in December, and New Year's. Folks are busy with preparations, decorating their homes and yards if they have them. Also, they could be out there purchasing presents or making them. Likely, they just don't have time to read.

However, sex sells no matter where you are, and I thought, "Hey, why not write about sex from a Spirit Guide's angle?" Anyway, it was a funny piece, and I'll see if it gets any traction.

Something else that has been on my mind for my Substack articles. I want to begin offering a paid subscription. I promised myself that when I got 100 free subscribers, I'd start offering something extra above and beyond all the articles I write. I've been unable to think of anything. I've got 98 subscribers now, so either I jump the next time a couple more people sign up, or I decide to wait a little longer until I have an opportunity to give it some more thought.

The closest I can get would be to offer psychic readings, which might be attractive to some people. Out on the street, you'd pay a good $70 for one. At least, that's what I was charging for them years ago. A paid subscription would be $5 a month or $50 if you pay it annually. That's worth a psychic reading, don't you think? It would be difficult for me to get back into the swing of doing them. This time, we have useful things like Zoom meetings that hadn't yet been invented back when I was doing them.

In any case, it's something to think about. What I would really like to do is to teach others to be psychic. I figure if I could do it, anybody could. Everybody is born psychic, so it's not like a gift that makes you special. I mean, it is special, but it is within reach of anybody interested enough to think they'd like to try. 

So, this wasn't the article I thought it was going to be. If I hadn't been paying attention, you would have gotten something you likely weren't expecting.

So, as a writer, it's always necessary to do that last look through to see if there aren't any glaring errors in either what you've written or where it is going.

How A Psychic Writes Fiction

  Created by Pauline in Canva An interesting thing happens when I write fiction. The characters talk back to me. Well, they aren’t belligerent or anything like that. They just have opinions about things. I spent part of this morning talking to Gloria, my lead female character in the piece of fiction I’ll be writing in November. I suppose you might call this the equivalent of a vacation for anybody else, but I am looking forward to it. Will it ever be published? I don’t know. I’m tending toward doubtful, but you never know. Why am I doing this? Well, I love reading fiction. Old fiction, contemporary fiction. Just all kinds. I’ve not written much of it, though. So, this will be mostly new for me. Thinking of Fiction

  Created by Pauline in Canva                                                       Okay, it’s on my mind right now because in a few days, five to be exact, I’m going to start writing a book. The original rules at NaNoWriMo – which is now defunct – were that you write your heart out in November on a novel. Quickly, rushed, no holding back. The goal was not only a novel, but 50,000 words. Okay, so a novel is likely to be more than 50,000 words, but you do the best you can on this first stab. You will be doing rewrites as time goes by, and you move into either finishing it, and with the polishing and editing that happens after November has come and gone.
